WHAT OUR COMMUNITY IS LEARNING

Our Networked Improvement Community is based on a simple theory of action - That in order to gain proficiency in specific Employability Skills, individuals need to:
(1) learn what proficiency actually looks like through opportunities that have value to them,
(2) practice those skills in a real-world context, and
(3) receive feedback and reflect on their performance in order to gain a greater awareness of self.

Our Networked Improvement Community is developing, testing, and refining practices in all three sections of this theory of action.

A Thoughtful Progression of K-12 Skills

Our K-12 Employability Skills Progression is based upon the U.S. Federal Government's O-NET research, Talent 2025's Employability Skills research and framework, and research we conducted with local employers and school districts across West Michigan.

Each year, our K-12 Networked Improvement Communities go through two Plan, Do, Study, Act Cycles from September through May:
Plan (What strategies do we want to develop?), Do (When and how will we implement them?), Study (How did the strategies work?  Under what conditions?), and Act (How will we adjust the strategies so that they are more effective?).
